- 1 large onion
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1/2 lb ground pork
- 3/4 cup uncooked long grain rice
- 1 medium head of cabbage
- 1 can(28oz) diced tomatoes
- 2 T tomato paste
- 4 cups beef broth
- 1 1/2 cups V-8 vegetable juice
- 1 t paprika
- 1 t thyme
- 1 T Worchestershire sauce
- 1 bay leaf
- salt and pepper to taste
- In a large pot, brown onion,garlic, pork and beef.Drain fat
- Stir in chopped cabbage and let cook until slightly softened (about 3 to 5 minutes)
- Add all remaining ingredients, bring to boil and reduce heat to medium low an simmer on low until rice is fully cooked (about 25 to 30 minutes)
- Remove bay leaf and serve
